Featured on the cover of Digital SLR Photography Magazine
I am very happy to have one of my favourite photographs featured both inside and on the cover of the March 2011 edition of Digital SLR Photography magazine.
The image chosen by the magazine was taken in September 2011 only a couple of days before I married fellow Landscape Photographer Douglas Latham at the same Castle. Dougie was off in Kyleakin having his Stag night while us girls decided to drive down to Eilean Donan to catch the sunset.
When we first arrived things were not very promising....flat, grey light and lots of cloud. It was only a bit of luck that just as the sun dipped below the horizon there was a break in the cloud and the sun broke through, leading to one of the most amazing light shows I have seen in Scotland. The beams shooting up behind the castle looked so sureal and dramatic that we couldn't believe our luck at being in the right place at the right time.....even the wind dropped bringing some mirror like reflections of the castle in the water.
Needles to say the boys were quite jelous when they realised they had all missed such a great sunset !
It was a great evening spent with some very special people....an evening I shall never forget . I guess you could call it my Hen Night!
